MARCH |

(1958, NR, 128 minutes, Crime, Mystery, Romance) Alfred Hitchcock brought us another classic with this one. James Stewart and Kim Novak star in this Oscar nominated film about a San Francisco detective suffering from acrophobia who investigates the strange activities of an old friend's wife, all the while becoming dangerously obsessed with her. |
(1938, NR, 126 minutes, Comedy, Romance) This was the first collaboration between director Frank Capra and leading man James Stewart and I'd say it worked out well seeing as how the film won two Oscars. It's a simple yet highly entertaining story about a girl from a family of freethinkers who falls for the son of a conservative banker. Jean Arthur and Lionel Barrymore also star. |
(1987, G, 96 minutes, Adventure, Comedy, Sci-Fi) One of our favorite movies from the great Mel Brooks, Spaceballs sends up the Sci-Fi genre, mainly Star Wars, like his Blazing Saddles did for westerns. Mel Brooks puts together a great cast that includes himself, John Candy, Rick Moranis, Bill Pullman, Daphine Zuniga, Dick Van Patten and so many more! May the Schwartz be with you! |
(1957, Approved, 92 minutes, Action, Adventure, Drama) Based on a story by Elmore Leonard, we find an outlaw captured in a small town and his gang will stop and nothing to free him before he is taken to the closest courthouse in Yuma. Glenn Ford, Van Heflin and Felicia Farr star. |
(1998, R, 118 minutes, Adventure, Drama) Based on the book by Hunter S. Thompson, written for the screen and directed by Terry Gilliam and starring Johnny Depp, Benicio Del Toro and Tobey Maguire, this film follows an oddball journalist and his psychopathic lawyer who travel to Las Vegas for a series of psychedelic escapades. |
APRIL |

(1986, PG-13, 103 minutes, Comedy, Drama) In the mid 80's writer/director John Hughes brought us some of the most memorable movies of the decade including Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink Weird Science and my favorite, Ferris Bueller's Day Off. This simple story of a high school wise guy that's determined to have a day off stars Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, Mia Sara and Jennifer Grey. |
(1993, PG, 101 minutes, Comedy, Drama, Family) A favorite of mine when I was a kid and it's still fun today. The Sandlot is about a group of kids who are enjoying important things in life, play baseball, treehouse sleep overs, dreaming about the lifeguard at the local pool until one day their baseball goes over the fence and now they have to deal with The Beast, a ball eating dog. |
(1954, Approved, 128 minutes, Drama, Crime, Mystery) Writer/Director Joseph L. Mankiewicz (All About Eve, Cleopatra, Guys and Dolls) brings us Humphrey Bogart as a has-been director that has found his new muse, a dancer played by the always stunning Ava Gardner. Edmond O'Brien won an Oscar for his role in this film. It was also Oscar nominated for Best Writing, Story and Screenplay. |
(1954, PG, 112 minutes, Mystery, Romance, Thriller) Between Dial M For Murder and To Catch a Thief, Alfred Hitchcock gave us this story of a wheelchair bound photographer that spies on his neighbors from his apartment window and becomes convinced one of them has committed a murder! James Steward and Grace Kelly star in this Oscar nominated film. |

(1984, PG, 105 minutes, Comedy, Fantasy) Two of the greatest things that happened in 1984 were the birth of the creator of IC! and the release of Ghostbusters. Ivan Reitman directs Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis as three unemployed parapsychology professors that set up shop to go bustin' ghosts! |
(1979, R, 92 minutes, Action, Crime, Drama) Water Hill directs this story of a gang called The Warriors that are framed for killing a gang leader trying to unite all the gangs in the area. With the other gangs gunning for them they must get back to their home turf of Coney Island in order to stay alive. |
(1974, PG, 91 minutes, Adventure, Comedy) King Arthur and his knights embark on a low budget search for the Holy Grail, encountering very silly people and obstacles along the way. One of the funniest movies ever made, Directors Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones made this film from funds earned by Pink Floyd's album "The Dark Side of the Moon" as the band were huge fans. |
(1972, R, 175 minutes, Crime, Drama) Commonly considered one of if not the best movie of all time, The Godfather won multiple Oscars. Frances Ford Coppola directs the story of an aging patriarch of an organized crime dynasty as he transfers control of his clandestine empire to his reluctant son. Based on the novel by Mario Puzo, the film stars Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Robert Duvall, Sterling Hayden, Abe Vigoda, Diane Keaton and many more. |
(1936, NR, 94 minutes, Romance, Comedy) Nominated for six Oscars, William Powell and Carole Lombard star in one of director Gregory La Cava's greatest films! A scatterbrained socialite hires a vagrant as a family butler...but there's more to Godfrey then meets the eye. |
